Happy Hopeday To You!

Today is the Feast of the Presentation!

Today is a day of Hope. It is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the temple, the 4th Mystery of the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.  Why is it a day of hope?  Well, when Simeon saw the Child He said:  ”Now, Master, you may let your servant goin peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel” (Luke 2:29-32).  He’d been told he would not die until he saw the Christ.

The prophetess Anna, who was praying and fasting in the temple night and day, “gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem” (Luke 2:38).   Simeon and Anna knew this child was the Messiah, the one to save all the people from their sins and bring meaning to life.  The salvation that the Jews had been waiting for was upon them. Praise God. The other two readings are joyful as well: you can see them  HERE. Take a look! Today is a day to celebrate!  It is also called Candlemas day, because today is the day to bless the candles.  So again… Happy Hopeday!
